Sketch 2

You can find a link at the top of my blog to this round of PTI swapping over on Splitcoast. This round Chris has posted two sketches along with the regular card swap...today I am showing you my card for the second sketch. I am not used to the shabby style of stamping yet in fact little J (now nicknamed teacup) asked me why I was getting the cards dirty I suppose it is confusing to her the lengths I go to so they stay clean and keep her away from my finished creations.

I got on splitcoast just in time to see this thumbnail come up for the pay gallery and I just had to give it a shot and it was the inspiration for my card...

The sketch...

My card using the popping pastel technique to color the cupcakes, and I went shabby with this card because of the color combo I used it just screamed the shabby style.

Product list...
All products PTI except for marvy scallop punch, SU scallop Punch, I used the cricut to cut the regular circles and chalk to color the cupcakes and the Cuttlebug embossing folder swiss dots.

1 Timothy 3:16 Word Art

I was led this week to a new part of scripture I don't recall reading before, (if I find something profound to me I usually highlight it or underline and leave some notes off to the side and this entire page was scribble free...well it is not anymore. I love this verse and I have created some word art for you today, I am working on a Cricut .cut file for our living room I will share when it is completed.

So when you are reading the scripture do you leave yourself notes or highlight the meaningful scripture of the moment?

I am working with what I have on hand for my trial runs and not doing my best job (so if it bothers you as much as it does me that things don't match or are wonky this is why) every designer has their working models;) Tell you one thing it sure smells YUMMY in my kitchen hot coffee and pumpkin pie, does not get much better then that combo this time of year.

Mug Shot...Christmas Gifts 2009

Art Potch on C. Kruel web site

Here is a link on SCS to the mugs that got me started on this quest, mugs by Frankymouse

Here is her blog link (you will need to use the translator and flip it to English) her blog translates in English to francas Tinkering

Well I have been searching and searching the web to find Art Potch in the US and have had ZERO luck. I have PM'd a SCS member out of the States to see if she would be interested in shipping some to me, (my fingers are crossed). In the meantime I have been playing around with different forms of adhesives, glues and lacquers that I have on hand to see what would work. So far I have come up with Glossy Accents by inkssentials (I think this stuff compares to SU Crystal Effects). It is fast drying, soap and water safe (I still would not submerse in water or put in DW) however, it is also microwave safe (I went up to three minutes heating coffee).

Tutorial with Glossy Accents

Supplies
ceramic mug
tissue paper
permanent inks (PTI hybrid scarlet Jewel, ripe avocado,Enchanted Evening)
Stamps (PTI Flower Garden, PTI flower garden sentiments, bc circles)
glossy accents
scissors

1) Stamp your image onto tissue paper using a perm ink such as Staz-on or PTI Hybrid inks.

2) Let dry only takes a few minutes.

3) Cut close around your image with a scissors.

4) Clean your mug with rubbing alcohol, let dry.

5) Rub glossy accents on your mug where you are going to place your tissue.

6) Carefully and slowly apply your tissue to the mug (make sure you have some glossy accents on your application finger) this stuff dries fast when you use a small amount and if your finger gets sticky you will be tearing up your tissue.

7) Once you have it down and smooth apply a thicker coat of Glossy Accents to the top of the image and let dry for 24 hours.

Tomorrow I have a tutorial for the heating coaster, see you then.

Chunky Spaghetti Sauce...Pizza Sauce

No crafty project for today I wanted to share with you some healthy sauces that use no added sugar and the fat is EVOO. I have been making bunches of both of these lately my family can't get enough. Also at the bottom I have listed our favorite breakfast cereals and whole grain bread.

Chunky Spaghetti Sauce
EVOO
1 medium green pepper
1 medium onion
1 garlic clove (I use minced garlic in a jar)
2 cans tomatoes
1/4C tomato paste
1-1/2t minced fresh oregano or 1/2t dried oregano
1-1/2t minced fresh basil or 1/2t dried basil

Directions: green peppers, onion and garlic; cook until tender in evoo, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano and basil; simmer, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes. I double the batch and place half in the freezer for another quick meal. This is wonderful over your Whole Grain Pasta (see previous post).

Pizza Sauce
1 can tomatoes
1/4C tomato paste
1 small onion minced
2t fresh basil
2t oregano
2 to 4 cloves garlic (I use minced garlic in a jar...just easier for me)
1/4t salt
1/4t pepper

Simmer on stove, buzz in blender return to a simmer. Once again I will double or more so I have some to freeze for quick meals. Wonderful to use with your whole wheat pizza crust (scroll down for recipe).

So for breakfast grains we now go with Oatmeal (old fashioned), Cheerios and Malt 0 Meal along with whole grain bread. (Our favorite is Pepridge Farm) link here.

Bella Challenge Card...Whole Wheat Flour

Ribbon unknown, some buttons unknown

And now a bit about what is going on around our home. DH was diagnosed with very high triglycerides and we have totally had to rethink the way we eat and cook. One of the first things I have changed was to get rid of all the white flours in the house. I replaced the cooking flour with King Arthur Whole Wheat seen below DH's work HyVee carries this at a reasonable price. I use it now in all of our cooking and baking, I have learned to use a cup less then you would for white flour recipes (it really soaks up the moisture). Here is a whole wheat pizza crust I now make for our family...

King Arthur Flour Web page here

Whole Wheat Pizza Crust recipe

1 pkg rapid rise yeast
1C warm water
1 T brown sugar
dissolve sugar in the warm water, sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit 'til it gets foamy (about 5 minutes)

3 1/2 C whole wheat flour (king Arthur Hy-vee)
1T EVOO
1t kosher salt
Combine these ingredients, pour yeast mixture into the center fold and blend slowly.Knead on flour surface, work onto a evoo (you can also sprinkle with corn bread flour) prepared pizza pan. Let sit 20 min, poke with a fork and begin to top the pizza.

Your flour will last in the fridge for 24 hours.

I am happy to report that DH has lost 15lbs, me not as great I have lost 4. Have to admit I am a sugar addict this is the hardest part for me to keep out of a good diet.

Got Chipboard?

Thanks to my Sister and her amazing garage sale finds I have two buckets full! L and I got to sorting them out on Friday and they are so very cute and charming now they are much easier to work with after being grouped by category. So I challenged myself on WCMD to use chipboard on most of my creations here are two bday cards (chipboard is one embellishment I don't normally use). I also turned first to my scrap piles on WCMD and tried to use them as much as possible.

My card above uses a large chipboard bday cake and I used PTI's everyday button bits for the balloons.

The only stamping on the above card is Happy Birthday from PTI.

Throwback Pettal Prints

Really it is amazing the amount of SU wood mounted sets I have that I really HATE using, don't get me wrong love the images but after stamping with PTI clear stamps I don't return to wood mounted often (hence the Throwback title). Not to mention my neglected stash of SU paper and ink...my list is endless. Inspiration came from the petal prints image I wanted to use along with the challenge on OCC found HERE and from a card made my my Stamping friend Banu found HERE

Inside of card, I embossed the top panel and stamped on the bottom one then mounted the sentiment on another scallop oval to match the card front. Really starting to love the look of this method. Anyhow my pic is upside down...go figure;)

Happy Harmony contains another verse I love...
"In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you" 1 Thessalonians 5:18
