Birthday Girl SCS sketch #200

Here is this weeks SCS Sketch Challenge, if you are ever in need of inspiraton a good card sketch is a great start and now SCS has 200 of them in the forum...

Today our oldest DD turns 14, I have mixed feelings about this day. She has grown up so very fast and wants to act much older then she is, why can't they stay little for a wee bit longer? Anyhow she has been very frustrated with her MOTHER this week, it is my fault for everything, her knees...lack of bday party...can't get her driving permit...can't play sports...does not get a gift...and her list goes on into infinity. So just for the lack of showing her my personality in return, I made her a birthday girl card, hey at least I did not go as far as making a baby card LOL!!

I have to explain the lack of us giving her a birthday gift this year. Last year she so just had to have an MP3 player we gave in and purchased one for her guess what she has since lost it. So in trying to teach a lesson there will be no gift from us this year, this may sound out of sorts to some people but you have to understand that gift was a ton of money and it is just gone...Hopefully she will learn to be more responsible for her things from now on. (That is our goal.)

PTI card stock, ink and ribbon
PTI Pink Patterns DP

Falling Leaves and the "Bell Witch"

So busy yesterday that I did not have time to work on a card for my blog so today I am showing you a card that I made for WCMD. For this card were were to find our inspiration from a selected magazine cover.

Now off on a small tangent for Halloween week... this card was sent to my DH's Aunt Bernice (his great Aunt). Every time I think of her all that comes to mind is the "Bell Witch" since Aunt B is from Adams Tennessee and DH along with his family lived in town for a bit. We were in the funeral procession for my DH's mother from Clarksville to Adams TN and when we got into town everything was named "Bell", so if you know me I had to ask WHY? Needless to say I was told to be quiet (later I learned why, not a popular subject for a wife to be talking about when DH is about to lay his mother to rest).

Below are some movies and links if you want to spook yourself this week with the legend of the "Bell Witch"

We were explaining to Grandpa and Grandma on Saturday how we cooked up a pork loin here is how it was done...
Bavarian Pot Roast

3 to 4 lbs pot roast (we like it with Pork loin or Pork roast, we did not like it with the beef)
1T veg oil
1t salt
1/2t ground ginger
1/8t black pepper
3 whole cloves (I have powder and just use a small amount, don't know the exact)
4 med apples cored and quartered
2 to 3 med onions quartered
1/2 cup apple cider or juice (or water) we like it with apple cider
Rub roast with oil and spices, place in crock pot with the cider. Place apples and onions on the roast and slow cook all day.

The girls and I love it, DH finds it a bit on the sweet side if you don't want it as sweet use water in place of the apple cider or apple juice. Let us know if you give it a try it is a great winter hearty meal.

I am taking our oldest DD back to the specialist this AM for her Knee, I will let you know how things turn out in Tuesday's post.

October PTI Blog Hop Polka Dots...

This month for the Blog Hop Nichole asked us to use Polka Dots on a project. I can't get enough of PTI's Polka Dot ribbon with every new color if I can't afford all the beautiful ribbons but I make sure to Purchase the Polka Dot, it is beautiful! Now with the addition of the new Polka Dot Parade DP it is a little slice of heaven.

The project below is a going away snowbird gift for my Dad, he will be leaving for Arizona to spend the winter. On the back of this I glued a 2009 calendar. Nice and easy project for some paper and a calendar organized all in one small place. Perfect for living out of a 5th wheel.

Above photo shows two projects I have worked on the first is a magnetic coaster covered with the Polka Dot Parade DP.

Little J's Big Adventure

Our Little DD decided to drink a bleach water cleaning solution on Friday that we were using to wipe down the house with. (The girls had been sick earlier in the week) and I wanted to be sure the germs were gone before Grandpa and Grandma came over on Saturday. I brought the bucket with me into the kitchen as I was putting curtains in the dryer and it took just a couple seconds for her to get the bucket of the kitchen counter and take a drink. I had no way of knowing how much she actually swallowed all I did know was she had gotten some because she said "icky water" then the screaming started.

How much is too much for a three year old in my book it is any amount who knows what damage can be done on your insides with bleach? Needless to say she got an ambulance ride and a trip to the ER.

She is fine was able to drink to dilute the solution more and eat a Popsicle so the decided to observe her for a bit then send her home.

This child of ours is so adventurous and quick I feel I can't let her out of my sight for one second in fear of what she will get into next. I don't remember the other two girls ever behaving like this.

I hope to be back with a blog hop project later today, I will see if I can fit in some craft time this AM before DH leaves for work.

Have a great Saturday.

I have been stamping up some of my new sets to share with some friends and I keep back the not so good images for myself. The cats in the....

No it is not "cradle". The cat climbed into the dryer the other day after it was done, think she was cold?

I have had a nice quiet day today watching movies with the girls and I have a funny story to post for you...

Yesterday our little one was totally into everything and out of control it turns out she ended up fixing our computer problems by pulling the jack out of the wall. A few weeks ago the cat was on DH's computer desk and knocked over the router, ended up breaking the jack clip on one end this causing numbing computer slowness and aggravation for almost two weeks (this became know to us Sat night). So I guess at times it is a good thing to have an active two year old in the house. Hope she is not expecting a Geek Squad payday. LOL!!

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!

Ultra Clean Product Specs

**I have purchased this product I have not been paid or been given this product in return for any comments.**

I am posting this info for personal reasons, last week our DD found my Ultra Clean and sprayed it into her eye. There was nothing on the bottle listing what was in the product or how to react if this was sprayed into the eye. I was lucky enough to get a phone number off the Internet and there was another person on the other end of the line when I called. He checked the specs and then told me what to do with our DD. We rinsed her eye with water it did stay red for a long time but there was not a perm injury.

I am sharing the spec sheets the company sent to me on this Ultra Clean Product there are two pages (click on the photo to enlarge).

Digital Free Download, I love this one

Free digital kit Spontaneous Delight can be found here at Shabby Princess.

I have not worked on scrapbook pages or anything digital in a very long time then the other day I went looking for some new cool stuff and let me just say I was Delighted, LOL with this download. I used it below on two scrapbook pages, a card and you also see it in my new blog banner...

Leilani "Heavenly Child in Hawaiian" is my College Roomie she now lives near Chicago with her DH and darling little guy. I have not seen her in a few years but thank goodness for the Internet we share photos and stories all of the time. This past summer she took her hair short for the first time ever, I love her new DO! Can you believe in College we drove all the way from Rapid City SD to Ames Iowa (In a snow storm) just to see ACDC in concert and meet up with some friends. Don't you wish you could take off like that these days with no worries of money, family, safety etc...Those were certainly the days. And every time we hear the song Red Red Wine song by UB40 I am positive a laugh comes to both of us and that is all I have to say! LOL!!
Red Red Wine on free napster

PSA...I don't want to enable drinking of Alcohol in any form I was a stupid kid when younger and I did consume way to much alcohol in college now that I am older and wiser I stay away from the stuff. Once in a while I will indulge in my favorite Mud slide or a Strawberry Margarita and that will be it for a few months.
Please Don't drink and drive!

I am going to be printing off this card and sending it to her, she enjoys getting handmade cards in snail mail.

Go snag you free digital delight today and have a...

Another Bummer

Had our oldest DD back to the Orthopedic DR. on Friday she is now benched again from activities and was so looking forward to the start of basketball season. For the next two weeks she will be taking physical therapy and wearing a softer brace then a return visit. If nothing has changed she will need a new MRI, he says now she may have possibly torn cartilage, this will now show on the xray and to be sure she would need the MRI.

If you want to learn more about her knee struggles you can take this link I have posted in the past...
Summer Bummer Link

I need to get caught up on all of the goodies I have missed the past few days. I love the new PTI color coming out and the Christmas tags. Such fun!!!

DH has also gotten us Netflix, have any of you tried this before? After fighting with our satellite company over billing we have decided to just stop our service. We are actually getting more use out of the Netflix not even comparable in cost to dish. I must say however I will miss the DRV, so hopefully at Christmas we will find a TIVO under the tree.

WCMDWT08 "Trees" and a well loved stamp set...

WCMDWT09 for this ways to use it challenge it was all about the trees. So I dug about as far back into my storage space as one can go and came up with SU's DD Branch (Do you remember this set?) I actually did our entire hallway in our old house a border with the DD Branch and birdhouses (photo is below). The border took a very long time to do and was enjoyed for many years I always have wondered how long it took the new owners to paint over it. LOL!! Anyhow, here was my World Card Making Day challenge card "Tree"...

For the topping on this card I had to use the tiny owl from PTI's Wise Owl set, I love this little guy.

When the Cows "Leave" Home...
Talking about Nature the country side was overrun on Monday with a loose heard of cows. They ended up just laying down on the road (in the fog of early AM) and a semi full of grain hit them causing a huge wreck that included multiple vehicles. In another location there was also another car/cow collision, the situation ended up closing the Marion oil from Marion SD to SD HWY 42 (over five miles) making it unsafe for emergency traffic to reach the scenes. It took most of the day, two fire departments and air support to get cleaned up and round up the heard. Yep, Cows really can come home. LOL!!

World Card Making Day Sketch Challenge Cards WCMD08

I played along with the SCS challenge below...(I flipped the layout for my card)

The card above is a combination card I used the sketch and the WCMDCC08 Lemon Lime with a twist (what a fab color combo) and PTI's Summer Sunrise Card Stock looks so awesome with this DP I found. Sorry, don't know the maker of the DP it has been in my file for a long time.

This was a fun sketch I know I will be making great use of it in the future. It sure was a big help in getting my Creative Juices flowing again after falling a few weeks ago.

Can't Contain Myself!

Today I have another form of stained glass stamping to show you this time I have used a square flower vase I found at Wal-mart.

Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol
Pick a stamp that has bold outlines and some space for coloring
Stamp the outline image with staz-on ink
With a paint brush and stained glass paints (in pots used for sun catchers)lightly fill in the image with color.
If you are careful while painting and refrain from using an abundance of color for this project you can work on all sides in order then let dry.

This is different paint then was used on the leading project from a couple of days ago.
Let Dry

This Little Light of Mine

These are so fun to make!
Products needed...
Square Glass Jar
Staz On or perm stamp pad
Liquid Glass leading
Stained Glass Paint
Votive

All these supplies are accessible at Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart.
Clean your glass with rubbing alcohol taking care to get off all the finger prints and oils

Stamp your image on the Glass using an open bold stamp, I love this leaf stamp from SU "Tags and More"

Use the liquid Leading to outline your stamped image. A steady hand is needed you want to make sure you cover all of the ink lines and connect your leading outline

When the liquid leading is dry you fill in the design with the stained glass paint. Keep a small pin handy to pop any air bubbles that may form in the paint.

It is best to work on one side at a time and fully let the paint dry this will take about 24 hours so this is not an instant project to complete but fairly quick and easy.

So what have you stamped on lately?

Happy Stamp Day!

I did it...Ribbon jar!

Nichole showed how to this some time ago, here is her blog link Ribbon Jar. I was not going to do this one, I figured my shoebox storage system was working for me. However, when I found the jar at a garage sale and pins at the dollar store I said for $1.50 in storage costs I can do this. An additional push came with the new ribbon from PTI that came carded instead of on spools (I had a meltdown when I saw that my metallic ribbon had creases in it) so I figured okay I will do it. So here is my ribbon jar, full of beautiful PTI ribbon, if you have not used this stuff yet RUN RUN RUN over to PTI and get some ordered, it is awesome!
