Christmas in July

Can you believe July 2009 has come and gone? It has been so very cold and wet here this year it is almost as if Summer has not even arrived to South Dakota yet. Anyhow to celebrate Christmas in July I have pulled up some of my Fave creations from Chrismas 2008...enjoy!

Enjoy the Ride

Love, Love, LOVE to make these notepads. Here is what you have to do...purchase some JR legal pads and have Staples cut them in half for you it truly makes the perfect size list pad. I was the recipient of one from my friend Chris her notepad here and I have not stopped making them since. Litisha makes them also you can find her's here

Have you noticed this week I have been working on MANLY items? I so needed to up my stash for gift giving in this area. I am so proud of myself, NO FLOWERS are you happy about that or what?

Mickey Mouse Shape notepad

Mickey shape notepad .cut file You will need Cricut DS and Mickey and Friends Cartridge to cut this file.

I REALLY love making these shaped notepads, it is going along with the t shirt I made my Nephew for his birthday. I need to make a door sign for him yet and then his gift will be complete and I will start on his brothers (I have a great idea planned for him also).

The eyes would not cut crisp, time to change my blade, I am such a MISER;) I also grabbed SU rust (trying to rid myself of SU card stock before it becomes obsolete, I just keep reaching for my PTI stash) for the next one I would stick to black for the shadow base my scan really shows the rust.

M I C K E Y M O U S E

You can download my .cut file here.cut file Mickey T, you will need the Mickey and Friends Cartridge to cut this file in DS. This file is sized for a child's size 6 T.

Another use for my Cricut Expression and happy to have DH working the meat counter? Yes, I used the Cricut to make this T for my Nephew's Birthday. Tutorial below. My DH works the meat counter at our local HY Vee, his boss was confused when DH asked him for some plain freezer paper then he chuckled when DH said the wife has an Idea for crafting with it.

What you will need...
Washed T
Freezer Paper
Cricut Expression
Cricut Cartridge
Cricut Design Studio
Iron/Board
Acrylic Paint
Fabric Medium
Paint Brush

Tutorial...

1) Wash your T and let dry.
2) Iron your T flat.
3) Slip in a cardboard liner (cereal box works great) this is so the paint won't bleed through your T.
4) Pick your design for the Cricut.
5) If you use DS as I did make sure you flip your print.**
6) Place freezer paper shiny side up on your cutting mat.
7) Cut your design.
8) Iron the negative (stencil) shiny side down on your prepared T.
9) Mix some Fabric Medium with your acrylic paint (or you can use fabric paint).
10) Paint the open parts of your stencil, let dry.
11) Most colors will need two coats, let dry.
12) Wash normally but I would turn inside out.

**You don't need DS if you don't have the program just cut your image as you normally would with the cricut. However, I don't think the baby bug has the flip feature so you would not be able to do any print. Your print will need to be flipped in the program as you see above in the screen shot because you are cutting your freezer paper shiny side up (if you cut shiny side down it does not adhere to the mat well and you won't get a crisp cut).

July PTI blog hop Blessings from Heaven

The PTI Blog Hop challenge this month was to use script in your creation. As you know I so can't put down my "Lil Bloomers" I use them on almost everything lately. For this project I wanted to Jazz up a space in the master bedroom. So along with some vinyl wall art cut on the Cricut and an altered dollar spot frame I now have a niche that I love!

Altered Dollar Spot Frame, directions found below...

Wall Niche...

Frame Directions...

Rip Pieces of script (I used a vintage book).
Adhere pieces of script with Modge Podge and let dry.
Apply another coat of Modge Podge and let that dry.
Sand around all open edges of the frame lightly.
In lower left corner apply your buttons and flowers.
In the upper right corner apply your ribbon.
Stamp images onto a page of script.
Crumple up the script then ink the edges and some of the creases.
Mount the script onto card stock.
Assemble your frame.
I stamped my flower stem and leaves onto vintage cream then used a pop dot to apply a lil bloomer. (My main image is mounted to the outside of the frame).

Blessings From Heaven

I finally have the wall art up in my bedroom that I have been working on for a few weeks, I really need to invest in some transfer tape the job would have been MUCH easier. As is it is a tad crooked, not perfect but I love it! The morning sun hits this wall first and when I open my eyes it is what I see.

The blocked out portion contains my PTI blog hop project, you will have to tune in on the 25 to see this one!

Our two oldest are in MN this week with the Church Youth so my craft and computer time is very limited. I will return on Sat the 25 for the blog hop.

Have a wonderful week and Happy Stamp Day!

Rodin

Photos in this post are from the Washington Pavilion web site...Link below

Sioux Falls Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science Rodin

I took the girls to Wash Pav on Friday afternoon, everyone enjoyed the trip. The biggest treat for me was the sculptures from Rodin I had no idea they were there after all I was going to take the girls to the art studio for a little treat. I spent a very good hour googling over the beauties was even able to see a small casting of the "gates of hell" and the "thinker". My girls were wondering what the heck was wrong with me, I was in total awe of this exhibit and can't stop thinking of it yet today.

If you live in the area this is a must see, if you need a road trip this would be a wonderful exhibit to take in.

Just a reminder for my family members and friends the Kirby Science Center is once again hosting Free First Fridays every month from 5-8pm.

Write On!

Edit to place link where I found the project...
http://www.designspongeonline.com/2009/07/wallpaper-wipe-off-board.htmlI used my transparency sheets in place of the contact paper and DP in place of the wallpaper.

Great way to use those Die Cuts and or your Cricut!

What a wonderful idea however, it is not mine I found it on the net have to go and look the link back up I think it is bookmarked on DH's computer.

I used the Cricut to cut the top note .cut file from JenC on...
1) recycled cardboard cereal box
2) DP times two
3) Transparency Sheet

Adhere the transparency with double stick tape to the bottom top note cardboard covered in DP. (My tape is hidden under the top layer of scallop DP.)

Top it off with some "Lil Bloomers" and some Yummy PTI ribbon and walla a wipe off board. I am going to be very busy making these for the girls and their friends for back to school.

Clean and Simple

This round of PTI swapping has a section for Clean and Simple CAS layouts this is the one I have chosen. I worked on these cards over the weekend and am happy to say I have them completed. Now to figure out something for my other spot...? I know this is probably getting very old but I just love the color Scarlett Jewell and the little bloomers then to combine it with the Ripe Avocado and craft YUMMY! I used the scor pal at every 1/4" to get my background for this, and you can find more about CAS {HERE} PTI round 4 swap can be found {here}.

Guidelines

I am not just speaking about my card today with my title, we are in the second day of draining our pool, when we came home after the 4th it was green and cloudy (like someone had been over and put something in it)! I have run the pump for three days, put in the algae side and other chemicals and the water has not cleared out. This is an expensive drain with the cost of water and pool chemicals. Some people that have no moral guidelines are REALLY getting on my NERVES! They have ruined the summer fun for our children with the fireworks display (my letter was printed in the paper this week) you can see that post here and now we possibly may not refill their pool. Okay, I can't do that to the girls we will be refilling it and people BETTER LEAVE IT ALONE!

Romans 3:21-31
But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the law and the prophets testify. this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. there is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of god and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus....do we then nullify the law by this faith, not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

So here is my card, I did order some PTI Guidelines card stock (I had the set for sale and thought I would try the card stock before I let it go, I am totally glad I did. I won't be inking up the grid line stamp anytime soon)! And the new Scarlett Jewell color is beautiful, LOVE IT!
