Finished Mirror Project

Here is the total finished Mirror project. You can visit these past posts to see tutes on how this was created...
Shabby Knobs
G R A C E

It started out life as a bureau mirror we picked up while junking' for the rock bottom price of $9.99. The girls stripped the veneer off, sanded and stained it for me. Wasn't that nice? They did a wonderful job and did not argue once, total shocker!

Happy Stamp Day. God Bless.

Now that's GL-assy!

My friend Chris made up some tiles last week and it motivated me to play around with the glass tiles I had staring me down for months now.

Finished tiles I have flipped one over so you can see the painted back. Such a beautiful blue I LOVE IT! Don't they look like a cool pool waiting to be dove into? Just think what you can do with the glass tiles once PTI starts releasing the acrylic paints!!!

So I put the positive side of the cut on the tiles and used the negative pieces to etch the votive holder. I still have the backing paper sheets to use stay tuned to see what I have done with them.

Directions on how to use the second cut for an etched glass votive...
1) Use carrier sheet to pick up negative pieces of vinyl from the cutting mat
2) Adhere the carrier sheet to glass votive and burnish with craft stick
3) Remove carrier sheet
4) Apply glass etching cream per product directions
5) Wash off cream
6) Remove cut pieces to reveal etching

And on a personal note DH worked his first FULL week last week, (Insert Happy Dance Here)and the card table for Montana trip did WONDERFULLY;)

Tutorial for Mug Warmer Coasters

This is what I am working on for Christmas gifts this year along with the mug tutorial I showed you on Monday (scroll down for Mug Shots post). I am working with what I have on hand for my trial runs and not doing my best job (so if it bothers you as much as it does me that things don't match or are wonky this is why) every designer has their working models;) Tell you one thing it sure smells YUMMY in my kitchen hot coffee and pumpkin pie, does not get much better then that combo this time of year.

Product list...
fabric 2 squares cut at 5 1/2 inches each
applique fabric 6 inch square
Cricut Expression
Cricut George Cartridge
Fusible Webbing 6 inch square
Iron
Sewing Machine
Uncooked Rice
Pumpkin Pie Spice

How to...Apply your fusible webbing to your six inch square piece of applique fabric (per directions on webbing)

Apply this bonded fabric to your Cricut Cutting mat.

For my project I used the flower from GBS cut at 3 3/4 inches.

Apply your cut flower to the right side of one of the 5 1/2 inch fabric squares (per fusible web directions).

Place your 5 1/2 inch fabric squares face together and stitch around making sure to leave an inch open in the middle of one side.

Turn the fabric squares right side out.

Fill your bag with uncooked white rice (about 1/2 cup), and 1t of pumpkin pie spice.

Stitch your 1 inch opening closed.

Warming Directions for Coaster...

Mug Shot...Christmas Gifts 2009

Art Potch on C. Kruel web site

Here is a link on SCS to the mugs that got me started on this quest, mugs by Frankymouse

Here is her blog link (you will need to use the translator and flip it to English) her blog translates in English to francas Tinkering

Well I have been searching and searching the web to find Art Potch in the US and have had ZERO luck. I have PM'd a SCS member out of the States to see if she would be interested in shipping some to me, (my fingers are crossed). In the meantime I have been playing around with different forms of adhesives, glues and lacquers that I have on hand to see what would work. So far I have come up with Glossy Accents by inkssentials (I think this stuff compares to SU Crystal Effects). It is fast drying, soap and water safe (I still would not submerse in water or put in DW) however, it is also microwave safe (I went up to three minutes heating coffee).

Tutorial with Glossy Accents

Supplies
ceramic mug
tissue paper
permanent inks (PTI hybrid scarlet Jewel, ripe avocado,Enchanted Evening)
Stamps (PTI Flower Garden, PTI flower garden sentiments, bc circles)
glossy accents
scissors

1) Stamp your image onto tissue paper using a perm ink such as Staz-on or PTI Hybrid inks.

2) Let dry only takes a few minutes.

3) Cut close around your image with a scissors.

4) Clean your mug with rubbing alcohol, let dry.

5) Rub glossy accents on your mug where you are going to place your tissue.

6) Carefully and slowly apply your tissue to the mug (make sure you have some glossy accents on your application finger) this stuff dries fast when you use a small amount and if your finger gets sticky you will be tearing up your tissue.

7) Once you have it down and smooth apply a thicker coat of Glossy Accents to the top of the image and let dry for 24 hours.

Tomorrow I have a tutorial for the heating coaster, see you then.

Silent Night Nativity

When I saw Silent Night from PTI I knew it was a must have stamp set for my crafting collection. It worked so well with the Nativity Paper Dolls from Cricut. When we put out our CHRISTmas decorations this year I noticed we did not have a single Nativity so I made this ornament to correct the dilemma. When I make the next I plan on putting on some pizzaz highlights with chalk, for this first one I was just happy to get it completed.

Product list...
Coaster
Cricut
Cricut Paper Doll Cartridge
Gold Embossing powder
White Versamark ink
paper Scraps Su and PTI
PTI Silent Night Stamp Set
dimensionals
Gold Cording
Hole Punch

Put CHRIST back in CHRISTmas...

Matthew 2:9-12

After they had heard the king, they went upon their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

Merry Christmas!

Cricut Ornament

I have been having a great time making some coaster Christmas ornaments. My Sister was able to pick up some new Cricut cartridges over the shopping weekend and this reindeer is from Doodle Charms. I thought for sure she would want the Cricut back now in her kindness said I could keep it longer, how great is that! Thank you Sis :)

This ornament was made with the girls in mind, especially our little one she loved it the most. The past few years at our Family Christmas with my Brother, and Sister's families we exchange gifts only with the kids. They have a wild time opening all of the beautiful packages.

Put CHRIST in CHRISTMAS
Matthew 1:18-21
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, be cause what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
Merry CHRISTmas!

October PTI Blog Hop Polka Dots...

This month for the Blog Hop Nichole asked us to use Polka Dots on a project. I can't get enough of PTI's Polka Dot ribbon with every new color if I can't afford all the beautiful ribbons but I make sure to Purchase the Polka Dot, it is beautiful! Now with the addition of the new Polka Dot Parade DP it is a little slice of heaven.

The project below is a going away snowbird gift for my Dad, he will be leaving for Arizona to spend the winter. On the back of this I glued a 2009 calendar. Nice and easy project for some paper and a calendar organized all in one small place. Perfect for living out of a 5th wheel.

Box it up...

I am so proud of my first ever Coaster Box, I used Apple cider DP on it with some wasabi and true thyme ribbon. It was hard for me to punch all of the holes I used my anywhere hole punch, left me wishing for a Crop-a-dile for sure.
I don't work much with Modge Podge but does this stuff ever really dry? I did up some extra coasters and I thought they were dry but they have stuck together, some I have saved but I did have to get rid of a few of them.
So now my little gem sits on my work table and as you can see it holds the good stuff, beaded pens and CHOCOLATE (yummy)!
Have a great day!
