Charmed Heart Boot Candy

RaNdOm post part 2...

Put yourself in a state of mind where you say to yourself, "Here is an opportunity for you to celebrate like never before, my own power, my own ability to get myself to do whatever is necessary.--Anthony Robbins

Here is an extra dangle in lime and purple...

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.--Carl Jung

I have been seeing these boot charms all over the Internet as of late.  Just had to make one for myself.  It was so easy I even had Little J helping out.
I attached silver split rings with two jump rings to create the chain.
Then I made a dangle using a head pin.  I connected the dangle to the chain using a magnetic clasp to make it easy for switching out dangles to match my outfit for the day.
So I think I will be keeping my boots out for a bit longer now;)
We even made little j a pair they are so CUTE!

Elizabeth, Sara and little j ready for the spring concert.  Liz had a solo and she did GREAT!

My purse I LOVE IT!  You can get yours at the link below also.  Yes, I had to purchase the matching wallet;)
Can you say Bling Bling!

Happy Stamp Day.  God Bless.

Kanga Wrappers for Valentines

Our Daughter Donna runs around saying now that everything is an "EPIC FAILURE". Don't know where she gets that from but I am going to use it today. Last year of blogging for me with a whopper 90 some posts "Epic Failure". Feels good to be back creating and keeping up with my readers and friends. Thank you all for sticking it out, there is much more to come;)

Since I totally missed the boat this year as far as getting Christmas in the mail I have started Valentines Prep. Get them done, find a good hiding place (hopefully not forget where that is) and be prepared.

My Friend Rochelle runs Impressions by Rochelle I have made plenty of her Wrapped Hershey bars. She has many great ideas for little sweet treats.

So I have Jessica's treats done. There are 5 kids in her class (four boys). Each one is her Prince. Her Teacher told me at conferences that she had her shoes off and getting a foot rub. LOL! Anyhow, I don't do many boyish designs, I tried really hard on these but a little girl flare made it on the wrapper. Are they cute or what?

Product list...
SU Toucan of my Love (retired), DP (retired)
PTI Buttons, twine, cardstock
Memento black ink pad
ATG gun
Cricut Expression
Cricut Wild Card Cartridge (hearts)
Crimper
Copic Markers
Marvy Scallop Oval Punch

Fall Button Harvest

I created this in the hospital and gave it to one of the best nurses Donna has had caring for her. (You can click the pic to enlarge)

List of supplies...
Floral Cone
Beading Wire
Beads
Buttons
Jewelry Pliers
A nice fall plate for the cone to sit on
Fall Pics I used two of them for my Creation
Candy Corn was just extra you can leave that off if you wish

Okay, so you start by stacking buttons and beads then twist the wire to the back this becomes your anchor for the foam. Keep making these pieces til your is full of layered buttons leaves. When you get to the top of the cone place the fall picks on the top and arrange them just a bit. I had found a fallish glass plate at mikes that I sat my creation on OHHHHH it was really pretty. I finished it off by placing it on a small foam plate and some yummy candy corn.

Have a Happy Stamp Day, God Bless!

A Candy Break, wrinkled seam binding...

I have to take a break today from my week of flower posts so I can get my blog candy up as a tiny treat. First I have to say when I saw Mish using this stuff I was hooked it is just so yummy! Then I asked around to see how it was made and no one would share the secret so I did it my way and it came out just as yummy! Here is how you can make it...

I recommend getting your seam binding ribbon from Sew True (linked below)...

Next you cut off the amount you want to dye and set aside.
Fill a spritz bottle 1/4 of the way with warm water
Drop in your reinker color of choice (I used a rich color around 8 drops)
A.) PTI reinkers gave a solid color dye
B.) SU reinkers gave the ribbon a tye dye appearance (click on photo to enlarge you can really see this difference in the green ribbons. The first green was with SU wasabi reinker and the second green was with PTI ripe avocado, see how the first has the beautiful tye dye look and the second is solid)
C.) Your color will be a tad different if you use the white compared to the cream seam binding
Shake well to blend the water and reinker
Fill another spritz bottle full with warm water
Spritz the ribbon with the plain water til damp
Spritz on your dye, scrunching and wadding as your spray
I did spray some of my seam binding with Tattered Angel silver mist spray for some extra sparkle
Set aside on wax paper to dry
When I past through the kitchen I did some extra scrunching and turning
A.) I used my kitchen table with the ceiling fan above it did not take long at all for the ribbon to dry
B.) If you are in a rush you can use your heat gun
Here is my SECRET and I am happy to share it with you, as it was drying I took a very small dab of hair gel and wadded up the ribbon more. I love how this look dried and yes it holds the wrinkles wonderfully. Next Sew True is a wonderful company if you are thinking of trying this I recommend ordering from Sew True.

So wanna win some of my ribbon spooled on vintage clothes pins along with some plain white and cream?(I will pack extra treats in your winning package along with the ribbon.) Leave me a comment on this post saying what you like or don't like about crafty secrets, LOL! You will have until Tuesday June first to comment, one comment will be drawn with the random number generator on Wednesday and the winner posted shortly after, one comment per person please.

Wanna hear the funny my DH made...Are you ready? "Why do you have to make more ribbon when you have so much?" ROTFLOL! My Man knows nothing about pretty ribbon and how addicting they can be. My Mother used to make some of our clothes and it was a HUGE treat to get a headband made of some extra ribbon.

Happy Stamp Day, God Bless!

Mom can you? Part 2

YES I CAN!

Okay, so I was able to scan a few of my Candy Bags for you. I have just been using up supplies I have. There is enough DP around here to wallpaper the entire house, and in the past (before PTI) I would stock up on spools of ribbon at Mikes and I have plenty of ribbon also.

Post below has the link to the cut file on Capadia Designs and also a link to her candy bags.

I took more care this holiday with my Nephews bag I made sure there was no PINK involved. After the Christmas funny over the "pink" popcorn, I won't make that mistake again it was downright LOL funny though.

Mom can you?

Make 22 Valentines I changed my mind about handing them out...Little did she know that I was ahead of the game this time. I had an inkling she was going to change her mind who don't want to hand out valentines.

I was surfing Cricut blogs and found this cut file at Capida Designs. This file makes the perfect little treat bag, and Lord knows I have a stack of DP to cut.

Here is the link to her post on this candy bag project
Capadia Designs Candy Bag Since I can't scan my treat sacks this will give you an inkling as to what they look like. If you have a Cricut and Design Studio Capida Designs is the place to blurf.

YUMMY Goodness

I painted up another wooden tray like the one used in the Diorama Nativity post...this time it acts as a cookie tray to deliver some yummy goodness to our friends.

Product list...
Wooden tray
acrylic paint
foam brushes
Rub-on
sand paper
spray sealer
wax paper
yummy goodies

With the weekend weather some crafty KITCHEN goodies were called for. Thanks for the help and determination of our older girls and the (youngest taste tester) together we were able to create some CHRISTmas goodies. With my physical problems I struggle daily just to remail upright let alone take on the task of baking for our family. I get much help from our girls and my DH and for that I am grateful, I am still very happy to lend my direction, LOL!! Here is a devotion from my Mom's Devotional bible NIV...

The Potato and the Egg
Some folks are like eggs when it comes to suffering. Like eggs, they go into the hot water of trouble and come out hard. Other people are like potatoes. Potatoes drop into the heat and are softened through boiling. How do we respond to suffering? Like an egg or a potato? do we become hard or are we softened trough the hot water of trouble?

Suffering is never God's first choice for us. Gut when we are touched by the pain of our world, through self-inflicted wounds or wounds inflicted by another, God wishes to save us from the harm of pain and even bring us benefits for the pain.

The catch is, we must submit ourselves to God as we suffer in order to benefit from it. If we're to gain form our pain, we must be more like a potato then an egg.

What will we do with suffering when it comes our way?

Put CHRIST back in CHRISTmas in 2008
Romans 5: 1-5

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character, and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Goodie Goodie Gum Drops

Are these not the cutest topiary trees for the Christmas season, I love to make them and children love to see and eat them. Here is how they are made...

Gum Drop Topiary Tutorial

Product list...
Clay Pot
Acrylic Paints **two colors I used red and white**
Cracking medium
paint brushes
faster plaster
large candy cane **be sure when shopping for them you get the ones that are not cracked or broken, this can be a major task at some stores especially this close to Christmas. **
Foam Balls
tooth picks
Gum Drops
ribbon

Tutorial...
Clean clay pot with soap and water, let dry.
Paint on your light paint color, let dry.
Paint on your cracking medium per directions on bottle.
Paint on your top color, let dry.
**let you pot dry for a few days, clay pots will absorb the moisture of the paint and it takes a couple of days for the pot to completely cure**
Mix up your faster plaster per directions.
Tape a penny over the outside bottom hole of your pot.
Fill your pot 1/3 full of your plaster.
**let you pot cure once again for a couple of days same applies with the plaster as it did with the paint.**
Cut one of your foam balls in half.
Place the cut ball flat side up inside of your pot.
Take your wrapper off of your candy cane and place the cane into the foam.
Take your top foam ball and mark your hole for your cane, carve out with a knife.
Place ball on top of your cane to make sure you get a tight fit then remove the ball.
Break toothpicks in half.
Place one gum drop onto the broken side of the toothpick.
Pace your toothpick into the foam, random placement looks best.
When your ball is full place it on top of your candy cane.
Tie a bow at the bottom of the Ball.
Cover bottom of ball in the pot with extra gum drops.

Put CHRIST back in CHRISTmas in 2008...
Meaning of the Candy cane from {Noel...}

The use of candy canes on Christmas trees made its way to America by the 1800’s, however during this time they were still pure white. They are represented this way on Christmas cards made before 1900, and it is not until the early 20th century that they appear with their familiar red stripes.

Many people have given religious meaning to the shape and form of the candy cane. It is said that its shape is like the letter “J” in Jesus’ name. It is also in the shape of the shepherds’ crook, symbolic of how Jesus, like the “Good Shepherd” watches over his children like little lambs. It is a hard candy, solid like a “rock”, the foundation of the Church. The flavor of peppermint is similar to another member of the mint family, hyssop. In the Old Testament hyssop was used for purification and sacrifice, and this is said to symbolize the purity of Jesus and the sacrifice he made.

Some say the white of the candy cane represents the purity of Jesus and his virgin birth. The bold red stripe represents God’s love. The three fine stripes are said by some to represent the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Others say they represent the blood spilled at the beating Jesus received at the hands of the Roman soldiers.

From its plain early beginnings to its familiar shape and color of today, the candy cane is a symbol of Christmas and a reminder of the meaning of the holiday.

Grandpa Tieszen is planting his garden and our little DD showed no fear on horseback. Can't tell you what our oldest DD was up to with the disguise, she was just making our little one laugh.

Porcelain Prints Scraps Galore....

The benefit for Mike Feste on Sunday was a huge success, I was so happy that I was able to complete my projects to donate for him. Looked as if our whole town showed up in support, that is one good thing about small town life the closeness of community.

Here is a gift basket that was donated by Sara's Studio...

Close up view of the Composition Notebook, I used scraps and Mod Podge to cover this book. Usually I run the full sheets of paper through the Xyron 900 but did not want to do that with the scraps there would have been much waste so I opted for the Modge Podge.

Here is a nugget tin where I also made use of the Porcelain Prints scraps, the paper was adhered here with Scotch Brand double sided tape.

Chew on this!

The above photo is of a gum holder, on the inside you will find a 5 piece pack of Trident. The tutorial found in the listed link is from Rochelle at Impressions. These are so fun to make and so cute not to mention necessary if you need to hide your gum from the children. I had trouble finding the small 5 pc packages of Trident none at Wal-mart or Walgreens (our local HY-Vee had them).
Here is what the gum holder looks like open. (This is from the second set I have made) I had the basket all bundled up when I decided I needed an inside view of the holder and no way was I going to try to arrange that basket again so I hope you enjoy the sneak peek of set two.

This is a card I made earlier this week as a CASE from nightstamper over on SCS. it combined two challenges for this week WT160 and SC170. The longer panel can be removed and used as a bookmark, I love to make gift cards they are so fun to make and for giving.

Not Wired and a shout out...

It was so quiet around here on Friday almost to the point of being ridiculous. Started out when the answering machine would not pick up calls, next it was no Internet and finally the satellite. What is going on? Turns out our little DD had unplugged the second phone line and it was repaired when DH came home but it sure made for one boring Friday. I thought the girls were going to go nuts so we did some spring cleaning. Forgot what the world is like when you are not wired, just unplug for a day, LOL!

Today I want to thank Rochelle over at Impressions for the grand gift set she made and sent to our oldest DD. She did not make just one she sent two and our DD happily shared it with her BFF. So many ideas on her web site please take some time and look around.

She also sent the following along, Hershey Stick Holders plus an entire box of extra sticks. WOW, chocolate heaven for sure! In the box was also a very nice notebook and matching pen just for me. And to top it off she replaced the stamp container for the "have a ball" set, so kind!

Thank you Rochelle for all of your kindness and making a very special mail day for our DD.

THANK YOU!

A Merry Christmas...

Last night it was our Family Christmas at my Sisters house. We have such a large family that we only buy gifts for the kids, it is fun to watch them open and see the surprise in their eyes. Our youngest has gotten her first Potato Head so I am going to share her creation, not bad for a two year old....
I did put a small treat together to give the adults... I measured the bags I had and then cut white Papertrey Card stock, (if you have not tried this paper yet you are really missing out. It is 110 thickness and it makes great cards and is wonderful for projects like this where you need a sturdy base.)Then I used the stamps from the Holiday Sweets set and Wild Wasabi to make a cute label, tied some wasabi ribbon and was done. I made a bunch of these to hand out in less than 30 minutes.
And here are the Girls all ready for Christmas, they are now 13, 11 and 2.

Merry Christmas!
