A 50th Anniversary

My Auntie called me yesterday afternoon
and requested a 50th anniversary card
for her brother.
YES, 50th!
What an amazing accomplishment and blessing.
I was inspired and got down to business
right away.
This is what I came up with...

Nerdy by Nature

I have an another digital card for you today.
This one used the free digital kit
Nerdy by Nature.
(links below)
This little bookworm and the papers in the kit stole my heart.
And yes, I am nerdy by nature!  And I am blonde, try explaining that one.
Not many people take my brains seriously
and I find my self playing the dumb blonde roll more often than not.
It is just easier!
Anywho, meet my little bookworm...

I did something extra to this card.  I have shared my little trick before
however, it is worth doing so again.
I took my pattern marking wheel and  my scor-pal and perforated
the top fold on the inside of the flap.
Thus making the top flap of the card removable to be used
as a bookmark.

I know!

Go get this one you are sure to love it!

What A HOOT!

What a HOOT indeed, this little guy is so very CUTE!
This was a team effort.
I let Jessica pick the digital kit and elements to use.
Did she do an awesome job or what?

This will officially be her birthday card from Mom and Dad.
  That is what she wanted;)

A quick video showing you the card fold...

So the digital download she picked from was...
This is a free dowload kit by justjaimee, I highly suggest
you go snag one!
she has many wonderful things on her page, so grab a cup and surf for a bit;)

We printed off the sentiment and an extra owl so we could
pop them up with foam tape.
The ribbon is from PaperTrey Ink.

This is a digitally designed card template from Jessica Sprague.

Bad to the Bone

Another way of using up some of my collected stash.
This time I used pre punched scallop circle from SCS's wish Rak next
I painted Tim Holtz Grungeboard skull and cross bones black.

I printed off the sentiment directly onto the card stock then proceeded to make my card base.
The font used is
Fiddum's Family

Digital paper download from
papercrave.com

(On the inside is more paper and Happy Birthday sentiment in the same font.)
**When using the printer on cards I always use a cut piece of copy paper on the inside to prevent transfer**
There is nothing worse than opening up a creation to see a double image, yuck!

Not bad at all I should say for a card style I normally do not create;)

So Tweet!

As I was cleaning out my studio a few weeks back I had my mind set
on using up the awesome papers I had stock piled and move on;)
Here is a simple card made with
DeLovely from Cosmo Cricket
some trimming and a simple paper doily was all this one took.
I know, fast and furious was the name of the game.
If I put thought into a plan I would still be sitting there!
That is how HUGE my creative block was, UGH.
Don't you hate those moments?

Happy Father's Day 2012

I have shown you before this digital file artwork I have created.
I used it today for my Dad's Father's Day Card;)

Last week for my Birthday my Father Gifted me my Great Grandfather's steamer trunk.
Inside I was taken back to find my Great Grandmother's Bible (in German)
with little notes and circled passages and the most complete
tidbits of family history to date that I have seen;)
WHAT A WONDERFUL GIFT,
THANK YOU DAD!

So let's get back to the hand written snippet above
it says...
Parents, your most precious possession here on earth are your children-
they are the only thing you can take along to heaven with you.
Cherish them and teach them early the love of Jesus and the promises of God.

I have been so blessed with a wonderful Dad, Happy Father's Day!

Product list...
DP konnichiawa basicgrey

Oh SNAP!

From the Stamps of Life
comes
 turtle2stamp
I love this little Guy!

DP used in Konnichiwa
from
BasicGrey

I know this card is not made well, I still feel like ugh!!!!
Anyhow, it was inspiring and got my creative juices flowing.
Just wait to see where he swam off to from here.
Wink, Wink;)

I actually layered the circle nesties to make the circle frame.
Yikes, I have not done that in a long time!
This makes the turtle sit on the inside of the card chilling in his cool pool.

I dusted of my Copics and colored just a smidgen.

The inside...

Fartsy VS Artsy

Oh My Stars!  You all know how much I am in love with our Michael's store in Sioux Falls.  NOT!!!!
I went in a couple weeks ago with a list of what I needed.  They had nothing on said list, NOTHING!
I went out to the car and called Sioux City.  Guess what?  They had everything and asked if I wanted to pay for it over the phone and they would ship to me.  That would have been fine and dandy however, I decided we needed a break from gold old Monroe.  That Saturday I than packed up the family and we headed south.  I did not tell them where we were going and did that ever upset the crew.  Than we pulled up to Michael's and UGS were abundant all around;)
Really Mom, we came here for Michael's?
BWAhahahahaha....
I did have to take a gander at all the pretties so
I only told them after that I had an order ready to be picked up;)

Next we visited the Golden Corral and that perked everyone up, it possibly could have been the
chocolate!!!!

A friend had told me about the art Museum they had so we headed downtown to check it out.
The permanent collection blows anything away that we have in Sioux Falls.
However, the science center at WASHPAV in Sioux Falls has better features for the little kiddos.

And coming later this summer ( July 14 - Oct 14) my favorite artist and thinker
 Leonardo Da Vinci

My favorites of the day...
1.  Francis Robert White
Return from Work
This so reminded me of our family when I was little so could not wait for Daddy to get home from work;)

2.  Billy Hassell
Bluejay Ojibwe

3.  I don't have the name on this sculpture however, the lady is made from glass.  This totally blew me away.  LOVE IT!

4.  Grant Wood
Corn Field Mural

It so bothers me that art class has been removed from our school.  Makes it more important to me that the girls visit wonderful Museums as mentioned above on a fairly regular basis.

I even met a new friend...

Be Creative, make ART!
Happy stamp day.  God Bless!

Shipping OUT!

Sorting, cleaning and finally SHIPPING;)
YES!!
I have my largest box ever shipping out to Operation Write Home.
I have been sorting, cleaning and de cluttering my creative space.
This time a tad more involved than previous attempts.
DH says he was getting pushed out of the area?  He is right, my stuff was growing out of control.
When it came time to work on submission projects I had all the older toys staring me down and I felt stuck.

Here is the front of one style any hero card using my green camo digital paper...
(I will upload my files to share in a follow up post)

Here is the stack the girls and I worked on so we could fill up the box;)

I flipped a creation inside out so you could see how we did the any hero coloring page provided by
OWH.  We than attached them to a card base as seen above...

Here is another style just using the star and no bg paper...

Many of you that have read my blog for awhile know of my DH's medical issues.
His trip to the VA on Thursday was less than stellar.
Please keep him in your prayers that he can regain control and become healthier.

Happy Stamp Day.  God Bless America and our Heroes.
