Blog Changes

Just letting you know I am working on my blog tonight and if it acting up while you visit I apologize. Hopefully you will find the new look inspiring and festive. I have also added a playlist of some favorite Christmas music of mine. It is not on Auto Play and if you wish to listen you must click the play arrow, to hear a certain song on the list you must click on pop out player. This will open the player in a new window and you can start on the song of your choice then minimize the player to hear my playlist as you browse other sites. The best part is if you don't like Christmas music or music at all when using the net you don't have to turn it on.

I love holiday music, how about you? What is your Favorite CHRISTmas song and or artist? I so love Josh Groban and since I am picking a favorite it is Believe. I think we have seen the movie Polar Express a Bazillion Times.

"Floral Frenzy Challenge
I don't know about all of you, but I am ready to pull out a few non-holiday images in my studio, just for a bit of a break from all the holiday-themed projects I have been doing lately. Well now is your chance!
This month's challenge is to build your own floral embellishment for a card or 3D item. It can be created with die-cuts, punches, stamp images that have been cut-out and layered, slit scalloped punches, you can crochet or sew one, the list could go on and on! You can use interesting materials like newsprint, felt, fabric, metal, cork, vellum, patterned papers, etc... Be sure to provide some brief instruction as to how you created your one-of-a-kind embellishment so others can learn from your example!

I love to use floral in my crafting designs in fact it is the class of stamps that I own the most of, LOL!! So when I saw the Blog Hop Challenge I had to make sometime to play along. My project for today is a card for our DD she will be turning 12 tomorrow. Happy Birthday L!

I love Flower Garden from PaperTrey Ink it has been one of my beloved stamp sets of the past year. For the card above I stamped Polka Dot Basics onto white card stock then stamped the outline flower from Flower Garden in Palette Noir Ink. I carefully cut it out then place some liquid lacquer on the flower center. (In the past I have used clear acrylic stickers but they have since been discontinued.) The leaves I stamped with the same black onto the spring moss card stock and carefully cut them out. I put them on my project with dimensionals to get more of a relief effect.

I also love to use PaperTrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms stamp set along with the Cuttle Bug Floral Dies to make awesome die cut flowers. You can see more examples below in the slide show...

I have had tons of fun stamping with PTI's Warm Happiness set. This card also holds a package of Cocoa on the inside, it has become one of my fave cards this season.

Kool Aid Childs Play

Who ever thought there were so many uses for Kool Aid? We actually don't drink it much around here because of the sugar content and the artificial colorings but over the past year I have found many other uses for it. I do like to hand out the single servings after I realized how much my Niece and Nephews love the stuff.

Below is a slide show of your little DD as she turned 3 yesterday. My good friend Jen sent some home made playdough to her for a bday treat. She had it packaged so nice and tucked into the container was a leaf cookie cutter, so very creative and this is the bday item she refuses to let rest along with the Dora noise maker from Grandpa thanks Dad and Jan :)

I am so torn about posting photos here on my blog I so love to share them. So I have changed my mind once again and I will be posting a few for you.



Jen's Playdough

1 Cup Flour
1 Cup Water
1 unsweetened pacakage of Kool Aid
1 T heaping Cream of Tartar
1/4 Cup salt
1 T Vegetable Oil
Heat over Med in a non stick skillet 'til not watery and forms a ball
Cool (cools faster if you spread it out)
The warm dough is great therapy for your hands :) so why not play along
Store in air tight container

Celebrate Veterans day with A simple Card

Celebrate Veterans Day today and thank military Veterans for their service. I would love to send a special greetings today to my Dad who is soaking up the Arizona sun as we shiver and shake here in SD. My Dad is a veteran of the Korean war and I could not be more proud of him. I love to look back at his old photos of military days, he does not talk much about the time he served hopefully one day he will share more. Happy Veterans Day Dad, don't forget the sun block!

Weekend Cat Naps

Don't you just get a big kick out of our little kitty? She can curl up anywhere anytime. She likes to rest on top of the computer cabinet (my craft cabinet) while I am creating. This day she decided to nap on my Xyron Box, good thing I did not need it I would have hated to wake her up so peaceful.

The point I am trying to make today is that I will no longer be posting on Saturday or Sunday. This time of year is just crazy for our family along with DH's new weekend work schedule I just have to take a Weekend Cat Nap.

I will be back on Monday's with my Color Challenge so you have something wonderful to look forward to.
