Double the FUN....

That is right today I Double your fun. As promised I have the technique on placing ribbon using one layer of cardstock. Bonus....Cropadile Bites Sara (you will have to read this post to the end to see what I have gone and done this time).

For this one layer card this is my product list..
Close to Cocoa Card Stock
SAB Rub-Ons
SAB Friendship Blooms
SU One of a Kind
Bo Ho Blossom Punch
SU Pretty in Pink GG ribbon
SU Horizontal Slot punch
SU Purely Pomegranate Ink
SU Pretty In Pink Ink
White Versamark Ink
Bazzil Brad
Cuttlebug Divine Swirls Embossing folder

You will need to cut, fold and emboss your card front.
Take the SU Horizontal Slot Punch to the folded side of your card front at the level you wish your ribbon to be.
Insert 'til you see a "tad" of your card stock in the punch. (Around 1/16" or less if you can get it.)
Punch your card stock
Insert the ribbon from the back as shown so you can tie your ends on the top of the card.
Now if you do not have this punch you can use your craft knife in the fold.
Also if you are using wider ribbon you can make two consecutive punches on your fold.

Here is your bonus feature for the day. I have so wanted a Crop-A-Dile for a long time and it was on my so talked about WISH LIST. When a Demo offered this special for a free Crop-A-Dile with a party I jumped at the chance. So with my allowance from Uncle Sam I placed a party order with her earning my Crop-A-Dile, all the SAB sets plus two extra rub-ons, Hostess Springtime bonus set, and more free merch. (What a Happy Stamp Day that was!) Thank you Lisa! Can you believe I was complaining that I had sore hands from cutting all of my new Rubbah?! Yep, I was how pathetic is that I get what I want and still complain. Then I was happy again when I saw that the SAB sets were pre cut, was I ever happy!

So back to the Crop-A-Dile post.
I was playing around with it on different settings getting the hang of how it worked before I started using it for projects. And then I ventured to the closet, why have I not seen more fabrics jazzed up with this tool. It was so easy going through t-shirt material, DH had to take over the Denim holes (there I was again complaining about those sore hands) it was difficult for me to get the holes through the layers of Denim while jazzing up our DD's jeans. I will show you a photo of them in an upcoming post. I started on the T pocket (this is not such a great idea with heavy eyelets, it makes the pocket flip down) so I moved to the sleeves, now this is wonderful! I have so many ideas going through my head on how to jazz up some T-s for the summer. Here is what I learned...

Be careful where you place the heavy eyelets on light weight fabrics.

Use the small punch for larger brads on knit material, you will need to set with the proper end. (The light weight stretchy material makes it easy to get a larger eyelet through to the back if you start with a large hole it becomes larger and the eyelet will not set in the fabric properly.)

For washing instructions I would recommend gentle cycle, fabric turned inside out and hang to dry. You could even place them in a mesh washer bag. (This should keep the eyelets from losing the color and turning to a metallic finish.)

Hope you have enjoyed my Double fun post and I would love to see what you have created with your crop-a-dile and horizontal slot punch.

Happy Stamp Day!

Fabulous job with the rub ons!!! And I like how you did the eyelets on the T-shirt. Something I never would have thought of.

What a great use for the cropadile. Leave it to you to come up with something truely creative. Maybe you should email the cropadile people to tell them about this new use!! thanks for the ribbon idea also. You are the best.

Very cool. Fabulous ideas you have. I just hope they won't rust, which may depend on the quality of eyelets used etc. You could get any white cotton or white denim skirt for summer, and totally do the hem in metallics or colours. What about summer cotton hats and caps? great ones to do, it would let them breathe!

I also think you should submit photos to cropodile or to card mags to see what you are doing with you crop o dile! thanks for sharing.
