Peony Love

Peony the flower of riches and honour.
My inspiration for today was this lovely paper my Sister gave me on my Birthday,
Rosalee from Prima.
I gathered up some supplies that coordinated and got busy...

Here is one of my creations.  Simple, but not quick.  I laid out so much stuff I could not make up my mind as to what I wanted.  I ended up letting the paper shine and kept it simple with vintage lace and a baked tag made by my friend Chris.  Sentiment from SU.

Here is a pink peony blossom my photography and editing...

Here is a white peony from Monroe.  Sadly I have none on our property.  However, that will be changing  waiting to see where my hydrangeas are going to land...

A neighbor was kind enough to let me cut what I wanted.  How wonderful is that!?  So here are some in one of my milk glass vases...

This is my favorite saying in the house right now
Live with Purpose
Love with Passion
that would be me in a nutshell;)

Tissue Paper Peonies...

Here is a beautiful poem by Mary Oliver...
This morning the green fists of the peonies are getting ready
to break my heart
as the sun rises,
as the sun strokes them with his old, buttery fingers
and they open —
pools of lace,
white and pink —
and all day the black ants climb over them,
boring their deep and mysterious holes
into the curls,
craving the sweet sap,
taking it away
to their dark, underground cities —
and all day
under the shifty wind,
as in a dance to the great wedding,
the flowers bend their bright bodies,
and tip their fragrance to the air,
and rise,
their red stems holding
all that dampness and recklessness
gladly and lightly,
and there it is again —
beauty the brave, the exemplary,
blazing open.
Do you love this world?
Do you cherish your humble and silky life?
Do you adore the green grass, with its terror beneath?
Do you also hurry, half-dressed and barefoot, into the garden,
and softly,
and exclaiming of their dearness,
fill your arms with the white and pink flowers,
with their honeyed heaviness, their lush trembling,
their eagerness
to be wild and perfect for a moment, before they are
nothing, forever?
from New And Selected Poems by Mary Oliver

Simply stunning, Sara! Love this post and all the beautiful photos! I have lots of peonies here...I wish they were in the front instead of the back of the house, though....
