yummy goodies
With the weekend weather some crafty KITCHEN goodies were called for. Thanks for the help and determination of our older girls and the (youngest taste tester) together we were able to create some CHRISTmas goodies. With my physical problems I struggle daily just to remail upright let alone take on the task of baking for our family. I get much help from our girls and my DH and for that I am grateful, I am still very happy to lend my direction, LOL!! Here is a devotion from my Mom's Devotional bible NIV...
The Potato and the Egg
Some folks are like eggs when it comes to suffering. Like eggs, they go into the hot water of trouble and come out hard. Other people are like potatoes. Potatoes drop into the heat and are softened through boiling. How do we respond to suffering? Like an egg or a potato? do we become hard or are we softened trough the hot water of trouble?
Suffering is never God's first choice for us. Gut when we are touched by the pain of our world, through self-inflicted wounds or wounds inflicted by another, God wishes to save us from the harm of pain and even bring us benefits for the pain.
The catch is, we must submit ourselves to God as we suffer in order to benefit from it. If we're to gain form our pain, we must be more like a potato then an egg.
What will we do with suffering when it comes our way?
Put CHRIST back in CHRISTmas in 2008
Romans 5: 1-5
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character, and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
