Not the Only One!

Jessica was helping out with Operation Write Home.  She colored the digital images in paint then we printed them off.  She helped to punch and tape and keep Mom Organized.
Below she is holding a few of the creations her favorites.

shown below.  Please visit

Okay, yesterday I found my pinky finger stuck behind the toilet flusher.  I know what you are thinking what the heck?  Same here;)   I contemplated for a few minutes on how to proceed at getting out of this sticky situation.  It was my right pinky so only my left hand was free.  Jessica and the dogs just stood and watched and pondered Mom's dilemma.  I thought lift the lid try to use my left hand to take the flusher hardware off the tank.  Yeah right!
So I waited for DH to get home from work.  And waited...waited some more...and then
I pulled my hand back in doing so caused a deeper cut to my pinky finger.
So beware there is danger in Toilet Flusher Handles!
I so can't be the only one ever this has happened to right?

Photobucket

So I think there are 5 stitches there hard to decipher the last one.  The cut was deep however, no damage was done to tendons.  Soon as the stitches come out next week I will be good as new.  More cautious of toilet flusher handles.  LMAO.  Seriously our God is HYSTERICAL, he can quit anytime now.  Some of this adventure could be spread on a more even playing field.

OMGOODNESS I AM not the only one;)  Now I feel better...

Happy Stamp Day.  God Bless.

Charmed Heart Boot Candy

RaNdOm post part 2...

Put yourself in a state of mind where you say to yourself, "Here is an opportunity for you to celebrate like never before, my own power, my own ability to get myself to do whatever is necessary.--Anthony Robbins

Here is an extra dangle in lime and purple...

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.--Carl Jung

I have been seeing these boot charms all over the Internet as of late.  Just had to make one for myself.  It was so easy I even had Little J helping out.
I attached silver split rings with two jump rings to create the chain.
Then I made a dangle using a head pin.  I connected the dangle to the chain using a magnetic clasp to make it easy for switching out dangles to match my outfit for the day.
So I think I will be keeping my boots out for a bit longer now;)
We even made little j a pair they are so CUTE!

Elizabeth, Sara and little j ready for the spring concert.  Liz had a solo and she did GREAT!

My purse I LOVE IT!  You can get yours at the link below also.  Yes, I had to purchase the matching wallet;)
Can you say Bling Bling!

Happy Stamp Day.  God Bless.

RaNdOm Spring

It has been a very WET and COLD spring here in South Dakota.  Makes it easy to work on fall and winter creations.  I have yet to turn the CHRISTmas carols back on.  I did manage to eek out a spring card.  I used the Dress form die from PaperTrey Ink and made a skirt, blouse and scarf for it.  I have shopped the idea around for dressing these things.  All you see is just the form in many different forms.
I know very well that you have to dress these puppies up!
The skirt and large tag have micro beads on them.
For the scarf I just unraveled a bit of the ribbon.
I do think I will go back and remove a few of the flowers looks a bit overdone looking at it now.

Now on to a bit of RaNdOmNeSs...

A French Pedi always make a girl feel special;)
Have to get some if you are a flip flop wearer like myself.  These babies by Under Armour
are comfortable and your feet don't slip around like they tend to in other flip flops.

This is a FUNNY right here.  Took Donna out to Brunch after one of our many Dr. appointments.  We ended up at Panera YUMMY!  I had a ham and cheese souffle delivered in one of these cute wrappers.  I could only think of was Betsy's Cherry Pie Note card set in Papercrafts May/June.  You can see a peek HERE  When I picked it up to look it over you should have seen the look on Donna's face.  "You better not MOM!" Well that just meant I had to right?  So when we got ready to go I went and asked to purchase some of them.  The girl had to go ask the manager and I heard, "why?".
Have not had time to play with them yet but they are on the list;)

Donna and Rachel right before D had her wisdom teeth removed

An after Pic

Jessica calls her...the chipmunk sister.  LOL!
She ended up with one dry socket on the lower left.  We went and took care of that yesterday.  However, it calls for another trip to Sioux Falls on Friday.

We are waiting for Jesse's test results to come back.  Please keep praying that he can get his numbers down quickly and be more diligent with his diet.

Jessica is on her last week of school in the fall she will be attending the Marion School.   Even tho she has been in pre-k and enrolled in Marion she was  taken by car to Parker for school.  Next fall she can ride the bus to Marion with the other girls and I will be much less stressed over the situation.  You remember the day the bus arrived and little J was not on it??  YIKES, that was my nightmare scenario come to life.  I did not know if she was in Parker, Marion or anywhere in between and that is a large area to have a five year old on her own.  It all turned out in the end when she was found at a nearby Church;)

Happy Stamp Day.  God Bless.

Love OWH

You know these are the most difficult cards for me to make.  I always wind up with 12 so so ones for every good one.  A good one will have no miss placed ink spots or smears and perfectly stamped images. Nothing  can be off just a smidgen or it will drive me CRAZY.

Here are two more cards headed to Operation Write Home.
All products used are PaperTrey Ink.

He Descended into Hell...

As I am finishing up this post tonight the sky has become dark with some awesome clouds and the sunset shining through at the horizon.  Amazingly strange and Beautiful at the same time.

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.  At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.  The earth shook and the rocks split.  The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.  They came out of the tombs...
Matthew 27:50-53

I believe in God the Father Almighty
maker of heaven and Earth.
And in Jesus Christ his only
     son our Lord.

who was conceived by the Holy
Spirit,
and born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was
buried.
He descended into hell.
I will meet you back here on Easter Sunday to celebrate our Risen Saviour.  God Bless.

Maundy Thursday

Last years post on Maundy Thursday  clearly hands down gets the most page hits here at Sara's Creative Adventures.  How exciting is that?  I Love it!

For Holy week this day gets pushed to the back compared to Good Friday or Easter Sunday.  (In my Opinion.)
So what is Maundy Thursday?...

The Last Supper is where Jesus first held the Holy Communion

"Maundy" translates to commandment.  Jesus tells his disciples, "to love with humility by serving one another and to remember his sacrifice."

Each disciple asked Jesus this question, "could I be the one to betray you, Lord"?

Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.

Jesus sweat turns to drops of blood as he is in the Garden praying.
God sent an angel to Jesus in the garden.
All Jesus' disciples could do was sleep they were of no help and soon they walked away from him.

Judas Betrays Jesus.

Jesus is arrested by Roman Soldiers.

Here is a video Basin and Towel by Michael Card...

And that is Maundy Thursday My Friends.
May God bless you and your family during this Easter Season.

Rolled Paper Flowers are the Joy of Life

This is so not a new concept it has been around for decades.
However, I have yet to see it used in conjunction with today's paper crafty treats.
This is a pretty tedious process you have to complete each step with precision to get a tight even roll.

Close up view of the rolled flowers.  The large one was made with the variation below.  I changed it up for
the bud bloom and left off the 1/8" fold on the end and just went right into wrapping.  This leaves a nice
place for more embellishments such as beads, buttons and bling.

Now I am going to show how to make these beauties;)
Step one is to pick out the paper you wish to use.  You can use DP, cardstock, newspaper, magazine glossy even ribbon would work for this process.  Once you have that done begin cutting 1/2" wide strips.
The length of strips used will determine the final diameter of the roll.  The length for these strips was 6".

Step two is to score your 1/2" strips at 1/4".  This step has to be done with precision.

Step 3 you will need to fold on the score line and use the bone folder to make a strong crease.
You will have a bit of playroom when matching up your edges just take your fingers and roll the
paper with your fingers til you get matching sides.

Step 4 you need to start the roll process by scoring one end at 1/8".
Fold on the score line again use bone folder to get a crisp crease.
I used a paintbrush handle to roll my flowers.
You can use any small tool that is similar.
Step 5 is to get rolling.  Start with wrapping your strip at the folded end.  (This will become your
flowers center.)   Make a few wraps then Apply  Modge Podge to the strip and continue to roll.

Step 6 when you get to the end of one strip and are ready for the next line up the ends with no gap.
Modge Podge to keep in place and start rolling same as the first strip.

Step 7  When you are finished placing all layers take and tap down the rolled
flower on a smooth surface.  (This will help to even out edges.)

Step 8 ( is optional) Apply Modge Podge to top of rolled flower and let dry.

These are fun to make hope you can enjoy some rolled flowers soon.

Thank you all so very much for your prayers during this weeks difficulties.  DH is out of the
hospital and working on getting better.  It took two days to get his pancreas settled
down and for him to be able to eat and drink.  It is his wild and crazy high triglyceride and
insulin levels that caused the pancreas to malfunction.
Anyhow, we have to watch even closer as to what is being devoured around the
Paschal Home.

Happy Stamp Day.  May God bless our country and the world.

Mom's Doughnuts

Grandma Alpha made these delicious YUMMIES all of the time.
She had one very specific rule DO NOT ROLL MORE THAN TWICE!  She said if you overworked the dough you would have tough doughnuts.  So she fried up the scraps from the second roll out and we had fun trying to decipher what the shape was.
j and I were feeling creative so we used a cookie cutter and  a small heart for the center.

Grandma Skovly Smith Doughnut Recipe

Mix the following ingredients...
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
4 c. flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp salt
2 TBL lard
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Roll out on floured surface
Cut with cutters

Fry in lard, remove when golden brown.

I keep the extinguisher handy.
Use lard for frying and in the recipe this really makes the doughnut yummy.  .

When they float to the top and turn golden on the edges it is time to flip them over...

One of Grandma's aprons sets off this sweet little treat.  My favorite way to eat them
is with powdered sugar and dunked in milk.
They are easy to make go ahead and give them a try..

Happy Stamp Day.  May God bless our country and the world.

Easter Sunday Best Dressed

This is our Easter Card for this year.
My Mom is on the left her Sister on the right.
Grandma made their Easter dresses and the story goes
that it rained that day and the girls decided to
play in the full gutters.
Did not make Grandma happy!
It sure is funny today tho;)

Here is the picture from Photo Shop.
The background is a blown up version of the picture
in Sepia tone.  I love the effect this gave the print.
The color on the dresses really makes all the little
ruffles stand out and the ribbons in the hair.

My DH thought the pic was of myself and my Sister Cathy.  LOL!!
Amazing as it is at that age my Mom, Myself, Liz and Jessica
could have passed for quadruplets.

And then I made a scrapbook page using
Love Birds Digi Kit from the FAB
Shabby Miss Jenn.
I made the background into a puzzle, we all
enjoyed piecing puzzles and playing games
at family events.

Now I need to get busy with some fabric since I am inspired.  I was asked to take in
a prom dress for one of Donna's friends.  Should be an easy task just needed
the motivation.

This was on Christian Paper Crafts for fun Friday...
"He has filled them with skill to perform every work of an engraver and of adesigner and of an embroiderer, in blue and in purple and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs. Exodus 35:35
