Re-Purposed Valenting Gift Bag...

This bag was stamped entirely with retired SU sets, I find it funny that this year the elephant returns he looks similar to the "Have a Heart" set that I own. Anyhow I first stamped the bag with the "Splatter" wheel in Real Red ink. That is another stamping item I tend not to use very often the wheels, because of this I don't even own any of the new Jumbo's I have been told that they are easier to use and I see them being used more frequently than the smaller wheels. Then I stamped the potted heart flower in black staz-on and colored it in with markers and placed on some Stickles, the pot was colored with a Sakura glitter pen and then glazed (love this look). Embossed my silver card stock, layered my pieces and placed on some eyelets, (wow, I actually used eyelets don't do those much either).

Here is the bag template that I used...

I will be back on Tuesday to show you what is inside the bag.
Happy Stamp Day!

Valentine Heart Topiary Tutorial...Re-purposed Valentines...

Here is the photo of all three Topiary Trees sitting on top of our entertainment stand yes, one for each of our girls. The one for today is our oldest DD's her first comment when she saw it was, "you made this, cool who is it for". You can find directions on how to make the remaining paper tree on SCS they have posted a wonderful tutorial there on how to make this type of tree. This Valentine Heart Topiary falls into my Re-purposed category because I used Christmas Ribbon and Shreds to make this project they were purchased at Hobby Lobby's after Christmas sale.

Supplies:
Clay Pot
Styrofoam ball (1)
Styrofoam Heart Form
5/16" by 12" wooden dowel
acrylic paint
foam paint brush
ribbons
Prima Flowers
Pins with a ball on top
paper shreds
adhesive

1) Paint your clay pot inside and out with acrylic paint and let dry.
2) Paint your wooden dowel with acrylic paint and let dry.
3) Split open the heart form at the bottom and glue in your wooden dowel making sure the top of the dowel remains in line with the heart shape.
4) Wrap your ribbon around the heart form starting at the bottom by the dowel and work your way around the shape.
5) Place a small amount of adhesive where your wrapping stops to hold the ribbon in place.
6) Layer your flowers and place them on the form using one pin through the center of the flower.
7) Cut the Styrofoam ball in half, then shave off the edges so it will fit inside your painted clay pot.
8) Place your Styrofoam into your pot so the rounded side is facing the bottom of the pot.
9) Insert your wooden dowel into the center of the Styrofoam that is now inside your clay pot.
10) Tie on your ribbons at the bottom of your heart form.
11) Place paper shreds around the base of the topiary to cover the Styrofoam.

Re-Purposed Valentines Topiaries tutorial...

This past season SCS had a paper trees tutorial, I liked them but thought of some other things that could be done as well so below you will find a written tutorial on how to make my Rolled Paper Topiary. This topiary is using re-purposed Christmas Tutorial idea along with Christmas shreds and ribbons that were purchased at after Christmas sales at Hobby Lobby, the paper is from Target $ Spot. Gotta go check out the Valentines selection there it was fun looking at what they had, and the mail-boxes are in stock agian this year!

Supplies:
Clay Pot
Styrofoam balls (2)
5/16" by 12" wooden dowel
acrylic paint
foam paint brush
ribbons
paper shreds
papers
pencil
adhesive
short pins
paper piercer (or other sharp long tool that would be similar)

1) Paint your clay pot inside and out with acrylic paint and let dry.
2) Paint your wooden dowel with acrylic paint.
3) Cut your DP to this measurement 1 3/4" BY 5/8".
4) Wrap your cut strip around the pencil (not so tight or it becomes hard to remove from the pencil).
5) Place a small amount of adhesive at the end of the paper to hold in place, (this will make your rolled paper tube).
6) Remove paper tube from pencil, I found it helpful to sort my paper tubes by color and style as I made them.
7) Start placing your rolled paper tubes with one pin dipped in adhesive, I used the end of my paper piercer to help push the pin in place since I was working with a small opening I found this to be a very helpful tool. There is no set pattern, just start on one side and keep placing your rolled paper, remember to leave room at the bottom to insert the dowel.
8) Insert wooden dowel into the bottom of the Styrofoam ball.
9) Cut the second Styrofoam ball in half, then shave off the edges so it will fit inside your painted clay pot.
10) Place your Styrofoam into your pot so the rounded side is facing the bottom of the pot.
11) Insert your wooden dowel into the center of the Styrofoam that is now inside your clay pot.
12) Tie on your ribbons at the bottom of your rolled paper Styrofoam ball.

What? LSC149...Valentines...Hide and Seek

Want to win this mail box packed with surprise goodies and some Valentine paper? Find out how at the end of this post...Hide and Seek is involved.

The Limited Supply Challenge for Friday Jan. 4th on SCS had only one rule, not to use and white or vanilla card stock on your card. At first I thought this would be difficult but in the end it was easy. My card is very simple to make I first embossed the silver card stock with the Cuttle Bug, then I punched out my scallop squares on in Real Red the other in Pixie Pink. I stamped with the Riveting set in real red onto the pink and punched out my circle. The last steps were to punch out a silver circle and mount my center piece, how easy is this? I took the photo this AM and the lighting is not good at all IRL this card looks Simply Stunning.

And with the posting of this card I am going to start my Valentine Series I am going to call it "RE-Purposed Valentines" for these reasons...
Some items that are going to be used were originally sold for the Christmas Season and the stamp sets I will be using for the most part are Retired Sets.

Time for the Hide and Seek blog candy, are you ready to play?
In my SCS gallery, (you will find the link on the right hand side of my blog), I have posted a different card that would fit into the category of the LSC149 challenge posted above. Find this card in my gallery then come back here and comment on this post with the name of this card and why I had made it.
Remember to come back daily to view "Re-Purposed Valentines" and have a
Happy Stamp Day!

Black and Blue Baroque...

This was another card I have made for the Jacksonbelle New Year's over on SCS. It was a color challenge to make a black and blue card. So along with the butterflies in this post, True Blue Friends I also submitted this card, I love this color combo of Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black.

I was also so excited to see my Party Hat win, now I have a new paper pack on its way from Jacksonbelle, how cool is that I actually had a Productive New Year's Eve. To see all the fun Threads from Jacksonbelle on SCS take this link, or when you are there click them in the member companies.

For those of you who enjoyed my Ornament series this season, be watching for one with Valentines projects, I am working hard on some really "Sweet", ideas.

Creative Birthday Card...

I used the Sketch Challenge on SCS loosely yesterday and this is the card that I came up with and I just LOVE IT! The only stamp used was the Happy Birthday stamp from the "Party Time" set.

"Warning no stamps used in the making of this card!"
All pieces of this card came from the Creative License Scrappin' Kit...

At My Creative Corner yesterday, Wanda posted a sketch card and measurements since it was Sketch Challenge on SCS I had to give her layout a try also...

Happy Stamp Day? LOL!

True Blue Friends...

I so love this layout and the total card this version was made for JacksonBelle New Year's on SCS. (Here is the secret-this is going to be one of my swap cards for my LAD swap that closes on the 15th but the color scheme is GREEN.)
Stamp set used Lizzie Anne Designs AU Naturale, there is still time to join this swap just send me an email if you are interested.

I used SU Ballet Blue, Bliss Blue and Not Quite Navy ink pads along with my blender pen to color in the butterflies. Then I cut them out and placed them over the black stamped image on the card so they were intertwined and finished it off by placing the friend sentiment inside the small oval.

I am getting to where I love the simple cards more and more. Not that coloring this card was simple for me, in stamping this is where I have the most problems.

Have a Happy Stamp Day!
